As a part of Swachh Bharat campaign schedule, Group D comprising of 15 employees willingly participated in the cleanliness drive and to create awareness for importance of cleanliness among the residents of the MPT colony, A-Type quarters as per the circular ref. No. CME/EO-1(9)/2015/4375, on 21.02.2015 from 10.00 a.m. onwards.
During the campaign, Shri Shekhar Khadapkar the Councillor of Ward no.1 was also present at the site along with the press reporter. It was noticed that the resident of ‘A’ type quarters who were addressed during the earlier campaign drive on 31.01.2015, have kept their surroundings comparatively neat and clean. It is therefore, felt that the mindset of the residents towards cleanliness is slowly getting changed/positive. Some of the surroundings of other ‘A’ type quarters which were found to be shabby due to debris of plastic/garbage etc. were taken up under the cleanliness drive. Some of the residents of the quarters also participated with us in the drive. Pamphlets regarding the awareness drive were pasted i the premises as also distributed among the residents. The ladies and other residents were advised during the door to door campaign, not to throw garbage behind the buildings, by carrying placards on cleaning awareness. There was a good response from the residents who willingly participated in the drive. Shri Shekar Khadapkar, the Councillor, accompanied by a media reporter, also participated in the drive.
Shri Shekhar Khadapkar confirmed that as promised earlier, he has made the arrangement with the municipality for collecting garbage door to door and the open cement bins creating a nuisance dust-spreading of garbage by dogs, cattle and crows menance was replaced by covered trolley type plastic bins. The undersigned when contacted the Civil Dept., was informed that they had already planned to remove all open concrete bins in the MPT residential areas within 2 months.
